28th December 07
1st adult a male

Hymenopus coronatus
After my male Hymenopus coronatus died my plans to breed this species didn't look good. Thankfully Mr White loaned me his male for my 1st attempt of mantis breeding.
8th September 07
Female had been mature for a month and had been fed the recommended amount of food, so I fed her with gut loaded blue bottles then when she was munching the 1st fly I placed the male carefully into to her tank behind her. Bingo! He jumped straight on, tapped her wings with his raptorial claws and began his tantric session...

1st November 07
Still no ooth from the female, starting to think I won’t get an ooth from her.
24th December 07
Female died without producing any ooths
Pseudocreobotra Wahlbergii
This will be the second species that I try and breed
My female is currently being got into breeding condition
24th September 07
Put male into net cage, then added female in front of him. He jumped on wrong way to start and she tried to munch him, paintbrush put her off and he got on right way round.

29th September 07
Pair finally split up!
31st October 07
Female laid 1st ooth on underside of twig.
Incubating ooth in a sweet jar, cotton wool on bottom and mesh lid
Female has laid several ooths since but all have not had proper foam on or not big enough to contain any eggs.
The female has now died

26th Dec 07
All nymphs now moulted and doing well
17th Dec 07
Several nymphs have moulted, I have had a couple of losses but that is to be expected.
2nd Dec 07
Ooth hatched

1st Nov 07
Purchased Pseudocreobotra ocellata ooth arrived 2day. Laid on 15th October
Incubating in sweet jar with cotton wool pads on the base, added raffia grass just before hatched for nymphs to climb on.
